Internet Sex Crimes

I defend persons accused of all types of Internet sex crimes, including possession child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and solicitation of a minor.

The defense of persons accused of Internet sex crimes poses many problems for a defense attorney. But the prosecutor of such a case faces many obstacles as well. My job as a defense attorney is to make the obstacles to a successful prosecution as high and as daunting as possible. I dedicate my criminal defense practice to protecting the rights and preserving the freedom of my clients.

Technology Expertise Can Make the Difference

I have developed particular expertise in cases involving government searches of computers, working with leading forensic experts to challenge charges of child pornography, economic fraud and antitrust violations.

Some pornography web sites are so malevolent for example, that once you have visited them they will install software on your computer or come looking for you without your knowledge. They can then send you to another web site containing potentially illegal content. The computer experts I consult with can often trace the origin and sequence of cyber events, casting doubt on the prosecution's assertions, if not exonerating my client. Other possible defenses include determining if the actors were truly minors, and questions of whether the images truly depict actual sexual contact or if they are virtual or simulated acts.

Entrapment and the Law

Sometimes police officers will pose as minors and seek to entrap visitors to Internet chat rooms. In many of these situations, there are several legal means by which to challenge the legality of the entrapment process. I understand the law as it applies to entrapment activities and will use all possible legal arguments to obtain a dismissal of charges or acquittal.

I have successfully opposed prosecutors’ efforts to stretch the outer limits of the law for political purposes. In a recent child solicitation case, I won a motion to dismiss charges of attempted rape of a minor where the government coercively used the Internet to arrange a liaison between my client and a fictitious 15 year-old.

The successful defense these charges requires unique expertise. As a lawyer experienced in defending Internet crimes, I energetically and aggressively defend my clients, using the law and technology.
